THE PROPERTY TAX.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE OAMARU WATfci

Sir, —I was exceedingly pleased on reading your leading article last evening in reference to the property tax, for I deem it quo of the most outrageous taxes that any Government could force upon a country. I should like to see a publio meeting held for the purpose of denouncing the tax, and I am sure that your remarks will find an eoho in the breasts of hundreds of men in Oamaru. It should bo well for the electors to bear in mind on the polling day that Mr. John Reid, one of the candidates for our suffrages, is a supporter of this abominable tax. Let them vote against Mr. Reid and by supporting one of the candidates opposed to tlje tax enter their strong protest against the property tax.—l am, eto,, Elector.
