GENTLEMEN, Having received a nnmeronsly-signed reqci->it : on desiring me to come forward as a candidate fo.* the seat in Parliament vacated by ibe resignation of Mr. Hislop, I have determined to place my services at your dispo c .a'.. If elected, I will use my atmost endeavor to assist in carrying such measures as will do justice alike to all classes of the community. I will give a hearty snpport to any Government that may be in power in carrying out snch reforms as will conduce to the vevlirciion of departmental expenditure wiiJioi*!; destroying the efficiency of service, and in all honest endeavors to reduce taxation and io practice strict economy. The information which I have gamed in connection with our railway system as a member of the Railway Commission will, I trust, be of service to the country if I ana elected, as it will enable me to aid in putting an end to all unprofitable railway schemes such as have been forced upon Parliament daring past years.
