AUCTIONEER'S REPORT.
Messrs. Fleming and Hedley report that they held a sale at Papakaio on the 26th instant, on account of Messrs. Langndge and Pett. There was a large attendance, and for all good lots the bidding was spirited. The premium on the education lease was sold to Mr. Cox for the sum of LI 12. Draught horses of good stamp fetched from 1,40 to LSO; inferior, very hard to sell ; drays, from Lll to Ll3; chaffcutter and power, L 26 10s. The other implements and harness at good rates. Milch cows, from L 8 toLlO; young heifer in calf, L 6 ; yearlings, from 30a to 50b ; 10 head of fat cattle, light weights, sold at Lo all round ; 2 bacon pigs realised L 5 as each: Jowls, 4s per pair; lambs, 10s ; .household furniture and dairy utensils sold at fair prices. They also report holding a sale of stock at John M'Kay s yards, on Friday, the 23th icst., at which there "was a good attendance, and all the lots submitted found, buyers at the following prices :—Fat cattle—Pen of 13 steers and cows sold at LS 5s all round ; pen of 11 medium weights, L 6 17s 6d each; pen of - year-old steers fcnd heifers, in forward condition, L 3 17s 6d to L 4; pen of steers and heifers, eighteen months old, L 3 2s 6d; pen of heifers, L 3 ; calves, 26s each; store cows, from L 3 to L 4 15s ; dairy cows, from L 7 to LI6. The premium realised on the Cape paddock was LlO •>, and the pigs sold from 12 10s to L 3 10s.
THE LABOR MARKET.
Mr. Henry Macintosh reports for the week ending 29th May. as follows: Business during the week has been bnsk, numbers of the better class of servants meeting with employment, country orders coming to hand more freely. The redaction in wages caused by the influx of population and the deplorable state of the grain market, seems to be looked upon as a necessary conseqtience, as it affects the whole community, causing a depression in business of all kinds. The supply of married couples, ploughmen, shepherds, carpenters, male cooks for town or country, is equal to the demand ; female cooks, good general servants for town, and good country girl 3, are also scarce.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agoqr Comply Mjy The wool market is unchanged, home buyers purchasing freely but the continental demand is limited. The competition on Fresh account is - sluggish. The American demand has fallen off.' Up to date, 260,000 bales have been sold. The sales-mil close on the Bth proximo. The wheat market is quiet.
