CHRISTC HURC H. [by telegraph. ( May 20. Wheat—The price of wheat remains at last week's quotations, viz., 3s 6d. The market, however, is not at all active, and great eagerness is exhibited in operating. Chick wheat has been sold dnrng the week in considerable quantity at 2a 3d to 23 6d for low to medium, and for the better class up to 2s ]od has been given. Oats—Fair —taa are reported, but at rates which do not ■how any improvement in value. Good feed is worth Is 2d to Is 3d, and best descriptions of heavy milling Is 4d to Is -tAd. Potatoes have been sotd largely since last report, prices ranging between 25s and 27s 6d, according to quality and place of delivery. Mutton, 2d per lb; beef, 17s Gd per lOOlbs.

DUNEDIN MARKETS. Mr. Donald Stronach (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports as follows for the -week ending May 19 Fat Cattle were again in good supply at Bornside to-day, 53S head" having been yarded (of which 30 were stores). Fat bullocks realised from L 7 to Lll 10s, and cows up to L 6 12s 6d per head. "\\ e disposed of another draft on account of Mr. Samuel Garforth (of Canterbury), consisting of prime well-conditioned bullocks, at from TQ 103 to Ltl. 10s, or equal to fully 25s per 1002b. Quotations generally ruled about same as last week, say 22s 6d to 25s for prime and 18s to 21s per 1001b for indifferent beef.

Fat Calves. —Twelve head were sold at 12s to 35a. ; Fat Sheep.—Two thousand two hundred and ninety-two head were penned and sold at 4s 9d for merino ; and from 10s 9d to 12s Gd for erosabreds. We cleared, on beh.lf of Mr. John Duncan, of Cherry Farm, 191 at 10s 6d to 10s 9d ; and also a draft on account of Mr. J. G. Grey, at 10s 9d. The demand was fair, but prices were barely np to those of last market. Quotations for best mutton about 2d per lb. Fat Lambs. —Fifty head were sold at Ss Gd. "Wool.—Telegrams from London during the past week have not been encouraging as to the state of the market there, which by latest advices wa3 reported quiet with downwaid fcendancy. We wait anxiously in hopes of a return of confidence at the renewal of the sales this evening, after the Whitsuntide holidays. Sheepskins.—Supplies forward at the aactions this week have been small. Our catalogue on Monday was clerred at some Improvement on last week s rates. Prices obtained were as follow: —Butchers' crossbred skins, 23 Sd to 3s 4d ; merinos, up to 2s fid ; station skins up to 3s IGd. Hides are unchanged at last week's quotation*, at which we are placing all coming forward, say 20s each for butchers' green hid-ee. and 3?d per lb for wet-salted. TaUaw. —We qnote as before, 25s for wel Treadered tjjilow, and lbs per cwt. for rough fat.

Grain.—Wheat: Beyond sales of a few ■m»11 parcels for shipment transactions have been almost nil, and last week's prices are scarcely maintained, except for the very best parcels. Such descriptions might be at aboot 4s; bnt for inferior qual ties there is no inquiry. Fowls' feed is nominally as .before. 2a 6d to 3s. but the supply is in excess of the demand. Oats : The demand does not improve, and con-iderable stocks are feeing held in hopes of a better market. At present Is 4d is the top price for feed oats. Barley : Demand very slack, and our last week's quotations cortld scarcely be seemed. We quote, nominally, 3s (3d for iirst-class malting.
