TO THE ELECTORS OF THE WAITAKI DISTRICT. w GENTLEMEN, Having received a numerously-signed requisition desiring me to come forward as a candidate for the seat in Parliament vacated by the resignation of Mr. Hislop, I have determined to place my services at your disposal. If elected, I will use my utmost endeavor to assist in carrying such measures as will do justice alike to all classes of the community. I will give a hearty support to any Government that may be in power in carrying out auch reforms aswill condnce to the reduction of departmental expenditure without destroying the efficiency of service, and in all honest endeavors to reduce taxation and to practice strict economy. The information which I have gained in connection with our railway system as a member of the Railway Commission will, I trust, be of service to the country if I am elected, as it will enable me to aid in putting an end to all unprofitable railway schemes such as have been forced upon Parliament during past years. I shall be in favor of the utmost liberality, consistent with prudence, in settling population upon our Crown lands, and of continuing the present liberal electoral law. I will address yon at the various centres in the course of the ensuing fortnight, when I «*»IT enter more particularly into a statement o£ my political views.
