THE PURE CLYDESDALE STALLION Q A I N T Y DAVIE. Dam—Marchioness, by Loyd Clyde (lm» ported); Sire Moffat's Conqueror (importqd). DAINTY DAVIE is a rioh dapple bay with blaok points, and stands 16 hands 3 inches. In quality and quantity of bono and hair few equal him, and for strength and symmetry he has few rivals. He is perfectly quiet, docile, and tractable. His dam is by Lord Clyde, imported from Scotland, and a glance at his career will bo conclusive proof that no better was ever bred in Scotland. LORD CLYDE was bred by D. M'Farlane, Esq., Torr, Helensburgh, by Emperor, out of Jess, by Clydesdale Tam, out of Tibbie; Emperor by Sir Walter Scpt.ij» Lord Clyde took the following prices as 4 yearling : at Bjshoprigga, Kirkin* ttillock, East Kilbride, and Johnstone (IS6G); as a 2-year-old-—First at Barhead, Johnstone, Renfrew, and second at Glasgow Highland Society (1867); as a 3-year-old— First at the Highland Society Show, held at Aberdeen, 1868. He was afterwards bought by the late David Nesbitt, and tak§n tq Victoria, where his stook have prigeq as follows :—First and second priijo cqlts and first and second prize fillies at Sand? hurst, and sepond colts and first and third prize fillies at Kyneton, and grab prize, colt and filly at tho Grand National, Melbourne, and the colt was sold on the ground for 100 guineas.
Dainty Davie's sire—Moffat's (imported from Scotland) —had also a dis» tinguished career, both $t Home and in the Colouieg. When two years old he gained prices at Glasgow, Stirling, Kirkintullooh, and Dumbarton; when three old front* among GO horses he was selected for a, £4O premium. Tfto following year ho was pur* chased by Mr. Moffat, Victoria, and re« tained at his stud till purchased by Mr, Turner, of Bacchus Marsh—the moat nofcod breeder in Victoria. Conqueror's sire was Lochfergus Champion. It can be safely asserted that Lochfprgus Champion left more prize stallions and mares than any other Clydesdale hor*e in Scotland. From all this, then, we gather that Dainty Davie combines the beat strains of blood in the world, and ho is bound to get stock worthy of his great progenitors, TERMS ...
