The attendance was large at Messrs. Fleming and Hedley's sale of Mr. Peter Orr's horses, cattle, farming implements, farm on Kakanui Flat, and sections on Riverview. The bidding was spirited. The live stock was all sold at good prices, one mare reaching 90 guineas, and its foal over LSO. Tha implements and land were not sold when out informant left.

It was early in the day, and the electors had expressed no opinion upon the subject. Sinoe then, I have been asked to come forward to contest the election. It will be seen that I have pledged myself not to do so if Mr. Roberta eleots to remain in the field, I promised that I would give you a reply in this evening's issue because I believed that the matter would be decided at a meeting of Liberals held last evening. The result of that meeting will he aoen in o»r local columns. But not having reoeived any intimation from Mr. Roberts that he has changed his intentions, I can only, on this occasion, thank you for your kindness in asking ms to come forward, and leave the rest in the hands of the electors, The time ia not short, and I may yet bo enabled to comply with your request and that of so many other electors of thia distriot.
