The following is the conclusion of our yesterday's report: — A commencement was then made with the first round of the Vice-President's Plate. Richmond and Mechanic were the first pair to meet. The course was a mere flutter, resulting in a win for Richmond, Mechanic suffering from the results of an accident. Hock and Othello had a very pretty course. Hock was quickest up to the hare, and put together a goodly number of points. On the hare .taking through a fence Othello got in and held possession for a time, scoring a few points, but was again displaced by Hock, who won a good course. Calceolaria and My were slipped to a good hare, but got unsighted for a time. Fly, however, picked up the hare, and did a long hunt on her own account, thus greatlv interfering with her after chances. The affair was given no-course. Then followed a short but sharp course between Cleopjiila and Ghevy Ghase. The latter had all the best of therunupandwork, killing the hare before Mr. Ottprsan's slut had a ohanoe of doing anything. Calceolaria and Fly were then put in the slips to run off their no-course. The result was only a brief flutter, Calceolaria running up and killing very quickly. Camelia and Malice had a short (Jour§e, of which the latter, had the best, particularly in the run up! Reflection and Mocking Bird had a long straight run, of which the latter had the best at the start, but was quickly given the go-by by Reflection. Again Mr. Taylor's slut showed in front for a few seconds, but again the brother of Hinemoa gave her the go-by, _ and finished a good run by winning. Minnie and ran a noTOovme. -They were directly afterwards slipped to a strong hare, and a fine give-and-take course took place, first one and then the other getting in and doing a lot of work. Minnie, however, scored most points, and secured the victory after a well fought course. Clyde and Queen of the Seas, the last pair on the card, were slipped, I Queen of tfye Seap winning a course consisting of a run up and kill. Another fine day was provided for the North Otago Coursing Club's opening meeting, and as" a natural consequence there was a very good attendance of spectators, amongst the number being several ladies. A start was made in the paddock adjoining the woo}-shp4 PR the Totara estate. Rhododendron and Shamrock opened the ball by starting the run off in the second ties in the Derby Stakes. A very pretty and fast course took place, both dogs runnjng well together for some distance,- but Rhododendron then took the hare pretty muoh to himself, and won a good course. Phlox Drummondii and Carnation were the next pair to try conclusions. After beating for some time, the pair had a short flutter, resulting in a victory for Phlox Drummondii, who took a turn out of the hare and killed. Aster and Cineraria had a fine long course up hill, in whip?} the former had the best of a long run, and scored a victory.
