Considerable misapprehension appears to exist in reference to the new electoral laws; and as electors may thereby be deterred from registering their votes, we give the following extracts from the Acts for'their guidance:—Section 6 of the Registration of Electors Act is as follows : "As soon as conveniently may be after the eorrimencement of this Act, the Registrar of every eleptqpal district shall form a new roll for such district, by placing thereon the names of all persons who are qualified in such district to vote for members of the House of Representatives, and who are on the roll of any electoral district in forcp at the time of the commencement of this Act." Every man of twenty-one years of age and upwards possessing a freehold property of the value of L 25, whether encumbered or not, within any electoral district is entitled to have his name placed on tjie roll of that district, Every pian of twentyrone years of age and upwards who has resided for one year in the Colony, and in the district for which he claims to vote for six months immediately preceding the registration of his vote, is entitled to be registered as an elector. Every qualified person-desiring to have his name placed on the roll of any district may make a claim and declaration in the form or to the effect set forth in the second schedule of the Registration of Electors Act. It shall be the duty of the Registrar, during the fifteen days' following the receipt of any claim, to satisfy himself as to the truth of the particulars contained therein. If he is satisfied that they are true, he shall, at the expiration of the fifteen days', add the name of the applicant to the roll. If the claimant satisfy the Registrar that his claim is valid the Registrar shall forthwith place his name on the roll. Those in this electoral district who are entitled to vote, slioujd send in their names immediately, so that they may be entitled to. exercise that privilege at the approaching election.
