COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.

AUCTIONEER'S REPORT. Mr. A. H. Maude reports that he yesterday held a sale of full-mouthed merino ewes, at Schluter's Yards, Boundary Creek. There was a small attendance, bat most of them were buyers. The sheep, of which there were nearly 800, brought from 3s Sd to 3s 10d and were all sold at above prices. ♦ ENGLISH MARKETS. From the circular of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (limited) per Brindisi mail, leaving London February 13tb, we make the following extract:— CORS MARKET. In sympathy with declining American quotations this market exhibited towards the close of January signs of extreme depression, and a reduction in values of from 2s to 3a per quarter became apparent. The lower prices, however, had the effect of attracting buyers; and a considerable Continental demand ensuing, a marked reaction has taken place during the past few days. | A rise of from 2a to 4s may be recorded from the lowest point reached. Imports for j the month have been made on a reduced, scale, and stocks both here and on the Con- j tinent show a decrease as compared with those on hand at 31st December. The quantity afloat is also less, the total _ on passage being 1,727,570 quarters as against J,341,975 quarters at this time la3t year. Stocks of Australian and New Zealand wheats in granary are now small, and firmly held ; & very fine parcel of Victorian having just been placed at Gls. This, however, must be looked upon as an exceptional price. Latest quotations are:—South Australian wheat, 59a to 60s per 4961b5: Victorian wheat, 60s to 61s per 4961ba ; New Zealand wheat, 54a to 58a per -»96lba ; Australian floor, 37s to 43s per 2Solbs; New Zealand flour. 36s to 41s per 2Sotfas.
