THE LOSS OF THE CALYPSO.
The following is the ascertained list of insurances on the Calypso effected through the Dunedin. offices and firms : Cargills, Gibbs, and Co., per Marine Insurance Co, of London, L 16,000 ; do, pgr open policy in: London, LIO,OOO j New; Zealand and Australian Land Co., per open policy in Glasgow, about 10,500 ; Victoria Insurance Co., L 500 0; South British, L4OOO ; Standard, L3OOO ; National, L 200 0; Colonial, L 200 0; Globe, 2000; Union, - L 1745 ; Ilnited, Lll2 ; . total, L 56,357. It has been stated that in addition the Bata,via had a risk of LSOOO onthe vessel, but the; local agents (Messrs, Bright Bros, and Co.) know nothing of it. The above insurances, are on the cargo alone, the hull being underwritten in English offices on* her last- trip. Messrs. Cargills,; Gibbs and Co. were insured on. their shipments by her to the amount of L 32,000. ■
