CHRISTCHURCH. {by telegraph. ! April 15. The grain and produce market daring the past week has not been particularly animated. Wheat continues to be received by rail in quantities for shipment, but sates have not been current to any extent. The arrival of tonnage lately to load has disposed of the fear entertained a short time aco of a stoppage from want of carnage. Wheat.—The market during the week ha 3 not been over buoyant, and buyers for shipment are not eager, influenced by the easier feeling existing in the Home market, locally have not been numerous, millers beinsr pretty well supplied, and picking only the best lots. Buyers are offering at 3s 9<l to 4s lOd, and for best parcels 3a lid to 4s. Chick wheat is selling readily at 2s 6d to 3s. Oats are without the slightest change, and transactions have been of a most retail character. Quotations remain at Is 3d to 5d feed, and Is 7d for milling extent are reported at 27s 6cl to 355, but prices mil ma ■week or two be more determined. The quality of the crop will be good, althongix it is stated that the quantity will not turn out ao heavy a3 was expected. Sheep th's week are more ready of sale than tney have been, and prices have advanced & pe? lb for mutton. Beef also experienced a revival, and a larjje supply was all taken up at 22s for best. The bulk, however, wa3 sold at 18s to 20s. There was eager competition for a superior line of pigs, which sold at equal to 4Jd and od per lb. ♦ ENGLISH COMMERCIAL.

The following I*3 from the National Mortgage and Agency Company's circular of the 26th February last :—A fall in American quotations led to a pause in the advance here after the issue of oar last circular, but within the last week their prices have moved upwards again, and our buyers, finding their shipments are short and stocks gradually diminishing, have been obliged to follow the lead. The result has been a further advance of Is to 2s per qnarter, and the market closes with a firm tone. Several Australian cargoes have changed hands, and to-day s value to Port of Call for orders with Continental option is 56s for December shipments ; 55a to 55s 6d for January; 54s 6d for February ; and 53s 6d for March. For London direct 53a has been paid for Melbourne wheat, January-February shipment, while a parcel early January bill of lading from Adelaide fetched 54a 6d, Australian terms. On the spot, a fine parcel of old wheat from the latter port has been sold at 61s per 4%lbs ex ship. New Zealand has gone off more freely—fair quality at s'2a to 54s ; good at 55s to 57a per 49GIi>s ex store.
