MESSRS FLEMING AND HEDLEY'S SALES.

About 600 persons were present at the sale. The proceedings were opened by a sumptuous luncheon at 11.30 o'clock, supplied by Mr. Fleming, and ably superintended by Mr. Gordon, of the Temperance Hotel, to which 200 persona set down in relays in a large marquea. Mr. Menlove acted as chairman, and, in proposing the health of Messrs. Fleming aud Hedley, whioh was drank with numerous and enthusiastic cheers, he made a few remarks suitable to the occasion. Mr. Hedley replied in appropriate terms. Arrived on the scene of the auction, Mr. Matson, who first wielded the hammer, and who was subsequently relieved by Mr. Stephenson, dilated on the lots to be offered and the sate commenced, The following were the lots sold up to the time we went Jco press: —Flora, Macdonald, 6 years, J.
