Wool market firm. The Board of Trade returns pf imports for the past month amount to L 37,625,000, being an increase of L 9,187,500 as compared with the corresponding month of last year. The exports for March show a total of US,$ J 2,500, being an increase of L 2,687,500 as compared with that of March, 1879.

A banquet lias been Held in honor of Mr. M'll wraith, at which Earl Cadogan presided, and proposed Mr. M'llwraith's health.
The Liberals have now gained 83, and contrary to expectations, the county elections are going in favor of the Liberals. An opinion is gaining ground that the Ministry will resign before the meeting of Parliament. A Liberal demonstration took'place tp.-day, at which Lord Hartingdon made a speech.. He denied the statements which had been made tp the effect that the Liberal party was divided, and said it was more united than it ever had been.

An anti-Chinese meeting was held last night, at which a petition to Parliament was adopted praying for the immediate passage through the Legislature of an Act of one clause requiring the steamer Brisbane, now quarantined with 215 Chinese, and with some pases of smallpox on board, to depart immediately, without discharging, under a penalty of L20,0Q0, ■ ' Brisbane, April 9.
