GRAIN ON THE RAILWAYS.
The haulage of grain upon the Timaru and Oamaru section of railways having now fairly commenced, we intend ta daily publish a statement of th.e quantities carried by rail and still remaining at the several sidings. This will enable our readers t°. judge fairly of the manner in wW°h the department is fulfilling its functions, and show in some degree the places whence all the grain, ©omes. It . is impossible to say ta what stations the grain is On Saturday, the quantities, forwarded and awaiting carriage were as follow at the several stations
. Of this quantity 1200 bags were sent direct to I)unedin. Up to date about 40,000 bags have been hauled over the section, but the section did not fairly start until Saturday, that previously carried having been in small parcels.
