I notice that the grain season on the railway has now begun. This last week several large trains of grain passed down to town; and even from Papakaio some half dozen trucks have gone, some of 'which, I believe, on account of the low price, are going to Dunedin. The railway authorities as. yet have hot kept to thei? promises, namely that of stationing a man, at Papakaio, although they have made ready an office for that pwc-pose. Winter is fast approaching us, and the grass in the padctqe&g is fast drying up, so that in a short time they will be very bare. But one oonsolation this year is the plentifulness of straw, which will partly make up for the want of grass.
