His\\orahip disnaiaaed the information with a caution to the offenders, remarking that he did so 'becaaae Madden had already been committed for trial on a higher offence. DASCTSO XS AS HOTEXAlexander Johnston, licensee of the Commercial Hotel, was charged with having, on the 2nd in3tant, committed a breach o£ the Licensing Act by permitting dancing m lii 3 licensed house. Mr. 'Newton defended, and, after evidence had been given, raised some fatal objection, and the case was dismissed. TO-DAY. (Before 6. EL Shrimski and VT. H. S. Roberts, Esq., J.P's.) OBtnfEEJRfBSS. Edward Slattery was fined 5s with the alternative of 24 hoars' imprisonment, for having been drunk and disorderly. _ Patrick M'Cusker, charged with having been drunk and disorderly, wsa fined 20s in default of payment to go to gaol for a •week. . . Patrick Butler, who made his hrsfe appearance on a charge of having been drunk and disorderly, was discharged wren ■a caution. BREACH OF THE RAILWAY REUCLATIOSS. Edward A. Rowland was charged on remand with having committed a breach ■of the Railway Eegalations by driving ov.er the Severn Street crossing when a train was approaching. The evidence for the proseeutjan was heard yesterday. In buS'defeoee theaccuaed called Mathes? Grant who gave evidence to the effect that Tie was seated in the buggy with the de•feadant. He heard the whistle of the «osaae when between Itefcen Street and the crossing, but did not see the train till after crossing the line.' He toid the .defendant to look out for the train. He ■could not say how far they had gone "before the train passed. In reply to the police,wifcness stated that She defendant, on hearing the whistle, couid have turned into Itchen-street. There was nothing to prevent the defendant inrsing back, as the horses were under proper control'l he Bench considered the offence fully proved, and inflicted a fine of L 5.
