DISTRICT PRIZE FIRING.
A squad of seventeen members of No. 1 Company and one member,, of , the Citizen Cadets fired at the head-quarters 1 range ; this morning. TKe conditions were 20(3, ; 400, and 600 yards ranges,, with, live shots at each ; and the prize.givcn for the whole of the Rifle Corps in the district are—lst, L 3 10s : ; 2nd; L2 10a.; 3rd,*L2 5s ; 4th, L2 ; sth, LI 15s ; 6th, L-li lOs ; Yth, LI 5s ; 8th ); LI; 9th, 10s ; iOth, i6s.; 11th,, 4s 3d.lW weatjier Vas highly favorable .for shpoting, duc 'the, * A ; t ' scores, with a few exceptions, were not ' good, but this may in some measure bo, attributed to the fact that a! large number (if the competitors were young marksmen, though some of the recognised shots of the company fell 'considerably'below the ' average. Vol. R. Harding gave another' proof;of his reliability as a marksman, by , making 54 out of a possible GO..
