Sir Colin Camp! eli's sire, Young Iron Duke, by Iron Duke (imported), out of Duero, sister to Mr. Jeliies' prize mare. Young Iron Duke gained the first prize at Warrnambool Show, Victoria, and first for the best draught entire exhibited, beating all imported and colonial bred horses on. the ground. At the Grand National Show held at Kyneton, 1569, he gained the fir3t prize for the best colonial bred stallion, beating Dan O'Conne'l, the celebrated prizetaker, and tne renouned Prince Charlie, iii the class open to all coiners. At the same place he gained the first prize in IS7O, also lirst in 1872, never having been beaten in his class. Sir Colin Campbell's dam, Diamond, bred by Mr. Paterson, Quamby, her sire, Sir Colin Campbell (imparted) by James Roes, Esq., of Bishopbourne, Tasmania. Her dam was the celebrated mare Blossom. Blossom's f-ir.--, Clyde, imported to Tasmania by M. Field, Esq., of Enfield: Diamond when two years old took first prize at Westbury ; when three years old, first at Longford, and first at Yv r estbary; when four years old, lirst at Westbury; and in 3570, first at. The following is a description taken from the Melbourne Weekly Leader of a halfsister of Young Muir Lad, purchased in Sydney at a high figure by the Auckland Stud Company of New Zealand, from JVlr. Andrew Town, of Richmond : Bay filly, 2-year-old, by Muir Lad (imp.), dam Blossom. This filly obtained second prize at Sydney Exhibition, 1873, beiug beaten by a first-class imported lilly eight months older th?n herself, and at Sydney Exhibition, tS79, she obtained second prize in her class, being beaten by- her half-sistf-r, a splendid animal, some high-priced imported fillies being behind her. Blossom's dam of this mare obtained first prize and champion cup at Sydney Exhibition, IS7B, and Jiuir Lad, her sire, obtained eh:>irpion prize two years in succession. ') he aires of these tillies are those of the host horses that ever canio to Australia, their lists of prizes taken in England, Scotland, as well as here, being as long as my arm ; and It I uir Lad and Davie are too well know to need comment.
