AUCTIONEER'S REPORT. Mr George Greenfield reports that he held "a sale of household furniture on the premises, "Wharf-street, to-day. The attendance was large and the bidding very spirited. The following is a list of the prices realised for some of the leading goods Couch fzreen damask), 43a; 4 chairs (do), 545; 1 pair pictures, 40s; doable wooden bedstead, 39s ; stove, 60s; other goods at fair prices. The piano was passed in, not reaching the vendor's reserve, bat no doubt will be sold privately. * DDNEDIN MARKETS. Messrs. Maclean and Co. report for the week ending 14th January a3 follows Fat Cattle.—A small supply of 124 head was yarded for to-day's market, the quality of which was chiefly good to prime, and prices ruled similar to last weeks. We sold on account of the N.Z. and A. Land Co 29 head bullocks and cows, at prices—for bollock*, LS 17a 6d to Lll; and for cows, plump light weights, LB os to LS -3 6d; ■""* on account of Messrs. Bryce Bros., Milner, and other vendors, a small draft at from Lsto LS sa. We quote prime beef at 25a : inferior, 20s to 22s 6d. Pat Sheep.—A large supply was penned —viz., 2881, mostly of good quality, and owing to the batchers having large stocks on hand from last week the bidding was very dull, and consequently there was a reduction in the price of about Is per head, at which a considerable number was taken by graziers. We sold 577 as under, viz.:—On account of W. TurnbuH, Esq , 208 cross-breds at from tfs to 8a 4d; on account of J. Bruce, Esq., 125 do at 9s 6d; on account of W. Robertson. Esq., 120 at 6s 9d to 7s 3d; on account of James Phillips, Esq., 133 at 7s M; and on account of Messra. Paterson and Wilson, 125 at 7s 3d to 7s 9d. We quote mutton at ISd to for prime per lb. Fat Lambs.—ss4 were penned, a large proportion of which were of ordinary quality, and all were sold at a slight reduction on last week's rates. We sold, on account of Messrs. Philips and others, IG3 at from 4s to 4s 6d. We quote prime lambs up to Gs 9d. Store Cattle.—No transactions. Store Sheep.—There is an active demand for young merinoes. Crosabreds also are m fair request, but the low prices ruling for mutton have somewhat interfered with transactions, there being little or no margin apparently between the prices of stores and fiskfc Wool.—We shall hold our opening sale for the season on Friday, the IGth. At late sales in the market competition has been and good prices have been obtained, and we therefore anticipate a brisk demand. Light greasy merinos are eagerly Sought after by buyers for the American market, and any clips of this description offering are certain to command satisfactory —At our weekly sale on Monday last we catalogued about 1000 skins, which were fairly competed for, and brought satisfactory prices. Butchers' crossbreds brought up to 4s 3d ; merinos up to 4s 3d. Hides continue in fair demand, and pnce3 have improved to the extent of jd per lb. During the week we have disposed of all the lots on hand at 3d per lb for wet salted, and ISa for butchers' hides. Tallow.—Little offering, and we have no transactions to report. _ . Grain.—Wheat has been in limited inquiry during the week, and prices remain without alteration. Prime milling may be quoted at 4s lOd ; ordinary, 43 7d; and fowls' feed, 3s 7d to 3s 3d. Oats : Owing to the improved demand in Melbourne, and an advance in price there, there has been active demand during the week, but price 3 have not improved. Wc have disposed of over 1000 bags at—for feed, Is Sd; milling, Is 9iT. Barley: None offering, and we have no transactions to report. WELLINGTON. [CT TELEGRAPH.] January 14. Messrs.
