NEWS FROM SAMOA.

[by telegraph.] Auckland, January 15. The Midge has arrived from Samoa with dates to December 15th. A treaty of peace was signed on that day by representatives of each district. The substance of the treaty is that' there shall be no more fighting ; treaties with the United States, Germany, and Great Britain are to be recognised ; a convention is to be established in the district of Opia and the neutral territory is to be recognised. A grand ovation was given to Captain Deinhed, of H.I.M.S. Bismarck, for his efforts in quelling the disturbances. Sixteen representatives of districts met on board the Bismarck and proclaimed Mulitea King of all Samoa. Mulitea, King in Stienberg's time, was made heir apparent. All foreigners are excluded from the new Government. A new Municipal Council has been elected, consisting of representatives of Germany, America, and England.
