When a 3-year old, Bedouin beat a good field of 7 horses, including Waterwitch, Queen Bee, Kettledrum, and Lady of the Lake—distance, li mile. He also won the Clutha Ferry H andicap, beating Lady Ellen four others—distance, 2A miles. He ran second to Backbiter for the Lawrence Town Plate, in IS7I : and won the Publicans' Purse at Waiwera—distance, 2 miles. His latest performance was winning the Cromwell Spring Handicap (distance, 1-J mile), easily, and he has also been victorious in many other events. BEDOUIN is brother to the well-known colt Saladin, the winner of many big events at all distances, from 1 mile to 3, iu go company. BEDOUIN is by the well-known horse The Colonel, a dark chestnut, 16 hands high, free from white; remarkably handsome, long and powerful. The Colonel, by Cossack, out of Edith, by Emigrant. Cossack, by Sir Hercules, out of Flora M'lvor, by Cap-a-pie ; grand-dam Cornelia, by Grasshopper, out of Hebe, by Hector, both imported. Sir Hercules was sire of Coronation, Faugh-a-ballagh, Irish Birdcatcher, Warlock, Daniel O'i'ourk e, Knight of St. George, and Songstress—all Derby and St. Leger winners in England. His grandson was sire of and grandsire of Blair Athol, Colleen, St. Albans, The Marquis, and Whalebone— embracing the representative of the purest and most successful racing strain of the present day. Bedouin's dam, Gunsara, is a dark brown, with black points, imported direct from Arabia, by Mr, A. Pilans, having been selected from the purest of the racing stock in the country. The Celebrated Norfolk Trotting Stallion GOLDFINDER, Will travel the Districts of Pupakaio, Maerewhenua, Ngapara, Otepopo, and Hampden, this season. GOLDFINDER is a steel grey, with black points, stands 15 hands 3 inches high, is very powerfully made, and has nice symmetry of form, with splendid action. Goldfinder was bred by William Webb, Esq., of Riccarton, near Ohristchurch; is by the imported horse Quicksilver, out of Lady Margaret, by Wellington (imported); granddam Fanny, by Sir Hercules—Sir Hercules being the progenitor of the New Zealand Turt, and long proclaimed and proved to be the best blood sire in the Australian Colonies. Quicksilver was imported from England by J. W. Ladbrook, Esq., to Canterbury in 1564. He was bred by John Coker, Esq., Lynn, Norfolk, by PrickwiUow. His dam, a Phenomenon mare, the property of John Bond, Esq., Old Prickwillow, was the champion of all roadsters. GOLDFINDER has taken several first prizes as the best H ackney Stallion at some of the principal shows as a weight-carrier and roadster; his equal is not in the Province. He is one of the best stock getters that ever travelled. His stock, like himself, show unmistakable signs of being excellent trotters. NAPOLEON was foaled the first day of November, 1875, and is out of the celebrated Brood Mare Jess, imported from Tasmania, and selected by the late John Nimmo, Esq., West Taieri. Jess is the grand dam of the famous sire Sir William Wallace. NAPOLEON'S sire is that grand old horse Emperor, the property of Mrs. Nimmo, Taieri, that has got more prize-takers than any other horse in New Zealand. Blackleg won altogether 54 b'irst and 2 Second Prizes. Princess Maude, the best mare that ever left Scotlaud, wa3 half-sister to Blackleg. Heather Jock's dam was Lily Cromwell, the winner of 13 First Prizes at Melbourne, Kynetou, Melton, Bacchus Marsh, Castlemaine, Gisborne, and Cans brook. She was got by Old Cromwell (imp.) His grand-dam was R. M'Dougall'a mare Old Lily, by Grey Champion (imp.) Jock's great-grand-dam was a celebrated Clydesdale marc imported from Scotland. Terms—£s, payable on or before Ist Jan., 1880.
