YOUNG JACK'S THE LAD was foaled thj sth November, 1575. He is a dark bay, stauds 17 hands high, with plenty of bone and muscle. He lias a good temper, is a williug and able worker, and haa proved himself a sure foal-getter in He touk second prize as a yearling at the Smeaton Agricultural Society's Show, in 1876. The same year he took the second prize at the Kyncton Agricultural Show, and. first prize as a yearling, and also Progsny Stakes of Jack's the Lad—a silver cup valued £7 10s, taking it two years in succession at the Glenlyon,iFranklyn, and Daylesford Agricultural Show, in ilarch, 1877. As a 2-year-old, he took first prize'at the Bendigo Agricultural Show, 1877 ; also the same year, he took fir3t-class certificate of merit at the National Agricultural Show of Victoria, at Melbourne, and the same year second prize at the Smeaton Agricultural Show, and second prize as a 2-year-old at the Glenlyon, Franklyn, and Dalesford Agricultural oliow, 1878. He was bred by Joseph Rosendale, Glenlyon. Sire, Jack's the Lad (imported), bred by Mr. Allan, of the Inches, near Eaglesham, by Mr. Moore's grand horse Lofty, which horse took a great many first prizes at Glasgow, Inverness, and other places, out of Mr. Allan's grand mare Flower, which took prizes all over Scotland. Jack s the Lad was imported in IS7'2, and obtained the lirsl; prize and first-class certificate of merit at Ciiotlemaine ; and since he has obtained 3even first prizes and four second, and. alao the third prize at the Grand National Show, Smeaton, in IS"3, and the second prize at the Grand National Sh.,w, Sandhurst, in 1876, and the champion prize for the best animal in the yard, at Smeatoa, in 1875.
