December 9. There is a good deal of gossip over an assault case which is e>:poctod to come on at the Police Court on Thursday. At a meeting of Lewis Brothers' creditors, Mr. Howard, one of the creditors impugned the ruling of Mr. Shera, a 3offc goods warehouseman, who was in the chair, and said that he was not to preside. Shera retaliated with one straight from the shoulder, hitting Howard under the ear, and raising a lump. Howard is a very tall, stout inan, and Shera a little fellow. They began clawing at each other, when the other creditors separated them. Next day, at an adjourned meeting, Howard went and struck Shera on the head. Shera was about to retaliate when their friends pulled them back. Shera has now commenced police court proceedings for assault, and a cross action is entered by Howard.
