PROFESSOR WALLENBURGH Will visit the undermentioned towns, viz. : OAMAIII*, From TUESDAY, 9th DECEMBER, 1879, till FRIDAY, 19th DECEMBER, and may be consulted there for TEN DAYS ONLY, at his Consulting Rooms, at the STAR AND GARTER HOTEL; TIMARU, From SATURDAY, 2llth DECEMBER, 1579, till WEDNESDAY, 31st DECEMBER. OPINIONS OF THE PRESS. Blindness and Deafness. By the kind invitation of Professor Wallenburg and Dr Grant, the editor of this journal, in company with the editor of the Saturday Advertiser, visited their consulting rooms, at the Criterion Hotel, yesterday morning. The first case shown was that of a iijia White, aged II years, the daughter of a settler ,it Oarnaru, who has been totally blind for yearn. This young lady has been under the treatment of these clever oculists for three days, and, wonderful to say, her eyesight has been perfectly restored. The father of the girl assured us that he had placed Jier under the care of several medical nun, who had failed to do her any good, despite the money ho had lavished upon her. The next was the case of Mips Hughes, a Dunediu resident, who stated that she had been deaf for a period of over three years. Strange to say, she has only been under treatment eight days, and her hearing has been fully restored. This fortunate girl is delighted over her good fortune. The next subject under treatment v/as a laborer, named Patrick Francis, working at logon's Point, who informed us tha f latfcorly he was •itrt'ck in ilia eve with a stone, by which he lost his"sight, and of late his left eve has 1»-en !n»t»-rial!y .'dT> - cted by the i>iir..l : but, thanks, t" the skill of ProftajKvf Wall-nhnrif, hv In;; now recovered - .1 (> sjyhfc «>f hi-** two is able to discern tiie smallest print, Herman Shultz of Hvde.jsas the la?t patient introduced, He stated that he had i>eVn totally deaf for year?, and that he had only been under treatment for a few days, and now he could hear plainly. These grntiemen ha\e numerous other cases under treatment. The case 3 that we have instanced should be sufficient to remove, any doubt from the moat sceptical. All the patients that are now under treatment have been tampered with by the medical profession with no satisfactory result, and this in the major portion of cases causes more aggravation, and makes effectual more difficult. The above cases clearlv illustrate that Dr. Orsnt and Profp?sor WaLtnbnrg are, without doubr, what they profess to be, Oculists, Aurists, aud Specialist.?. We would strongly recommend th"fe who are cither afflicted v/itli blindness or deafness to consult these gentlemen at once, as their stay here is limited.—Evening Tribune, September 24th, 1579. The Evening Tribune, of October IS, says : Professor Wallenbnrg and Dr. Grant have again effected some more marvellous cuie3 in blindness. The editor of this journal, accompanied by Mr. J. J. Connor, visited the ocnlista' consultingrooms at the Criterion Hotel "this morning. The first person the editor conversed with was Daniel Mahoney, a laborer, residing at Logan's Point, who stated, that be had been totally blind for some Tiro weeks, through a severe cold' he had contracted. He had been under private treatment for a week, bat be got wo'sse instead of better. He was brought to Professor Wallenburg on the 11th inst., *n£, since then he has l>een under this clever oculist's treatment, with the result that he is now recovering the sight of both eyes. Jphn Chalmers, a brickmaker, residing at Pelichet Bay, stated that he had been blind of the right eye for over nine weeks, and the left one was beginning to become affected by the right one. He was under treatment at the Hospital, but without any beneficial result. He has been under Professor Wallenburg's treatment three weeks, and can now discern the smallest object with both eyes. Patrick Conno-, a miner, residing at Hindon, was the next patient consulted. He had been totally Mind of the ri .lit eye for three month?, and had been in the Hospital under treatment, which, he state- 3 , tended to make the right eye worse, and to injure the left one. He went tinder Professor Wallenburg's treatment on the 9th October, and now he is perfectly cured, and intends starting to follow his calling on Monday next. The cases that arc instanced above are onc3 in which the patients went to the oculists entirely destitute of funds, and were treated out of simple humanity and charity ; consequently, Professor Wallenburg and Dr. Grant are deserving of the thanks of the community for the kindness and charity displayed in these cases.—Tuapeka Times, November lo'.h, 1579. AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT. TO TIIK EDITOR. Sir,—You will much oblige me, as well 33 benefit the ptiblic in general, by inserting in your columns regarding the cure effected on my rigfyf eye," which was totally blind when I placed myself ifnder the. treatment of" Drs. Grant and Wallenburg. I also found myself losing the sight of th« left eve. I have now-recovered my sight, and am going to work to-morrow. Out of gratitude to those gentlemen allow me to thank them, and hope all those suffering in the eyes may avail themselves of their skill. —I am, &c., Patrick Francis. Witness—W. J.
