OPINIONS OF THE PRESS. UI.INIINKSS AND DkAFNESS. By the kind invitation of Professor Wallenburg and Dr. Grant, the editor of this journal, in company with the editor of the Saturday Advertiser, visited their consulting rooms, at the Criterion Hotel, yesterday moraine. The tirst case shown was that of a Miss White, aged 11 years, the daughter of a settler at Oamarti, who has been totally blind for years. This young lady ha 3 been under the treatment of these clever oculists for three days, and, wonderful to say, her eyesight hat been perfectly restored. The father of the girl assured us that he had placed her under the care of several medical men, who had failed to do her any good, despite the money lie had lavished upon her. The next wa3 the case of Miss Hughes, a Dnnedin resident, who stated that she had been deaf for a period of over three years. Strange to say, she has only been under treatment eiglio days, and her hearing has been fully restored. This fortunate girl is delighted over h*r good fortune. Toe next subject tinder treatment was a laborer, named Patrick Francis, working at Logan's point, who informed u.* that 1. All the patients that are now under treatment have been tampered with by ill'; medical profession v/iih no satisfactory remit, and this in the major of ca=en cau.-es mo.v aggravation, ami makes elFeet «"tr- more difficult. The above castM ciearly illustrate that Or. Grout aud I'ro-'e.sor \Va?>Dlmg are, without doubt, what thev profess to he, < 'enlists, Aurists, and Specialists. We would strongly recommend those who are eit-ur ailheted with bbi'.'hicds or dea'ne.w to consult these L'eiitleii.cti at once, as th'rir stay here is limited.—Evening Tribune, September 24th, IS7!>. The Evening Tribun", of October IS, savs : Professor Wallenburg and Dr. i. rant have ag.iin effected some more marvellous ctnes in blindness. The editor of this journal, accompanied by Mr. J. J. Connor, visited the oculists' consulting-room.-i at the Criterion Hotel this morning. The tirst person the editor conversed with was Daniel Mahoney, a laborer, residing at Logan's Point, who stated that he had been totally blind for some two weeks, through a severe cold he had contracted. He had been under private treatment for a week, but he got worse instead of better. He was brought to Professor Wallenburg on the Uth inst., and, since then he ha 3 been under this clever oculist's treatment, with the restdt that he is now recovering the sight of both eyes. John Chalmers, a briclunaker, residing at Pelichet Bay, stated that he bad been blind of the right eye for over niii'? weeks, and the left one was beginning to become affected by the right one. Me was under treatment at the Hospital, but without any beneficial result. He has been under Professor Wallenburg s treatment three week', and can now discern the smallest object with both eyes. Patrick Con no-, a miner, residing at Hindon, was the next patient consulted. He had been totally blind of the ri<:ht eye for three month?, and had been in the Hospital under treatment, which, he states, tended to make the right eye worse, and to injure the left one. He went under Professor Wallenburg's treatment on the 9th October, and now he is perfectly cured, and intends starting to follow his calling on Monday next. The cases that are instanced above are ones in which the patients went to the oculists entirely destitute of funds, and were treated out of simple humanity and charity ; consequently, Professor Wallenburg and Dr. Grant are deserving of the thanks of the community for the kindness and charity displayed in these cases.—Tuapeka Times, November 15th, 1579.
