WELLINGTON. December 5. At the circus last night a man named Nash received a nasty scalp wound from a falling pole, which was broken by the strong wind blowing. A man named Alexander Ogilvie, who was arrested at Waihi, Taranaki, for forgery at Sydney, while manager of the Operative Building Society there, has been remanded to Sydney. DUNEDIN. December 4. Mr. H. J. Walter, in conjunction with Messrs. James Finch and James James, this morning lodged a petition with the Resident Magistrate praying that Mr. H. S. Fish, jun.. be ousted from the position of Mayor of Dunedin, to which he was elected on the 2Gth ult., on the ground that he was at the time interested in a contract under the Corporation. The Dominican Canvent bazaar, at the Garrison Hall, is progressing very successfully, the proceeds up to last evening amounting to L 240. The annual meeting of the Otago Rifle Association has been fixed to take place at Anderson's Bay on the 17th, ISth, 19th, and 20th inst. Entries close on the IGtli inst. Walter Tyrrell, the actor, who was arrested lately for forgery in mistake for another man, is reported to have brought an action for LIOOO damages against Detective Bain. CHRISTCHURCH. December 5. The Lyttelton harbor is just now infested with a number of large sharks, some of which have lately come in near the shore. Yesterday morning one was caught measuring over Gft.
