When a 3-ytar old, Bedouin beat a good field of 7 horses, including Waterwitch, Queen Bee, Kettledrum, and Lady of the Lake—distance, 1J mile. He also won the Olutha Ferry Handicap, beating Lady Ellen four others—distance, 2J miles. He ran second to Backbiter for the Lawrence Town Plate, in 1871 ; and won the Publicans' Purse at Waiwera—distance, 2 miles. His latest performance was winning the Cromwell Spring Handicap (distance, li mile), easily, and he has also been victorious in many other events. BEDOUIN is brother to the well-known colt Saladin, the winner of many big events at all distances, from 1 mile to 3, in good company. His grandson was sire of Stockwell, and grandsire of Blair Athol, Colleen, St. Albans, The Marquis, and Whalebone- emhraoing the representative of the purest and most successful racing strain of the present day. . Goldfinder was bred by William Webb, Esq., of Uiccarton, near < hristchurch; is by the imported horse Quicksilver, out of Lady Margaret, by Wellington (imported); granddam Fanny, by Sir Hercules—Sir Hercules being the progenitor of the New Zealand Turf, and long proclaimed and proved to be the best blood sire in ths Australian Colonies. Quicksilver was imported from England by J. W. Ladbrook, Esq., to. Canterbury in 1864. He was bred, hy John Coker, Esq., Lynn, Norfolk, by Prickwiliow. His dam, a Phenomenon mare, the property oi John Bond, Esq., Old Priok willow, was the champion of all roadsters. GOLDFINDER has taken several first prizes as the best Hackney Stallion at some of the principal shows as a weight-carrier and roadster; his equal is not in the Province. He is one of the best stock getters that ever travelled. His stock, like himself, show unmistakable signs of being excellent trotters.
