OTEPOPO ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of this Board was held on Friday. Present—Messrs. Falconer (Chairman), Henderson (Treasurer;, M'Donald, A. Marshall, Watson, Kitchin, G. Marshall, Ross, and Mitchell. On the motion of Mr. A. Marshall, seconded by Mr. Ross, the minutes of last meeting were adopted as read, and the outward correspondence was read and approved. The inward correspondence was read and considered as follows :—- A circular from Mr. Bull, intimating that he is prepared to undertake all kinds of engineering, &c.—Received. A circular from Mr. W. M. White with price-list of glazed pipes.—Received. A letter from the Commissioner of Crown Lands requesting a tracing of the old road, and a survey of the new at the deviation in sections 135 to 151, block Yl.—The engineer was requested to furnish them. A letter from Messrs. Julius and Balmer intimating their opinion that it is competent for rangers to charge for assistance in driving cattle to the paund. The Engineer's report was read, stating that contractor Wright had no claim to compensation for rock, and that in the case of contract No. 75 (Allday Bay), 173 cubic yards at 2s per yard had been allowed. Mr. M'Donald moved, and Mr. Marshall seconded, that the report be adopted. Mr. M'Donald moved that the rate of Is per £, determined on at last meeting, be confirmed.—Seconded by Mr. A. Marshall. The Clerk read a list of defaulting ratepayers, and was instructed to give 14 days' notice by advertisement, and if the rates be then not paid to sue for them. Mr. Henderson moved, and Mr. Mitchell seconded, that the Clerk be appointed valuer. Mr, Ross moved, as an amendment, that tenders be called for the office of valuer. There being no seconder, the motion was carried. Mr. M'Donald moved that the accounts amounting to L 225 2s 9d, be passed for payment. —Seconded by Mr. Ross and carried.
