STALLIONS THE THOROUGHBRED ENTIRE HORSE Bedouin Will travel this season between MAEREWHENUA AND HAMPDEN. BEDOUIN is a dark brown horse, with black points ; free from all blemish, and has great muscular power. When a 3-year old, Bedouin beat a good field of 7 horses, including Waterwitch, Queen Bee, Kettledrum, and Lady cf the Lake—distance, mile. He also won the Clutha Ferry Handicap, beating Lady Ellen four others—distance, miles. He ran second to Backbiter for the Lawrence Town Plate, in 1871 ; and won the Publicans' Purse at Waiwera—distance, 2 miles. His latest performance was winning the Cromwell Spriug Handicap (distance, 1 i mile), easily, and he has also been victorious in many other events. BEDOUIN is brother to the well-known colt Saladin, the winner of many big events at all distances, from 1 mile to 3, in good company. B.EDOUIN is by the well-known horse The Colonel, a dark chestnut, 16 hands high, free from white; remarkably handsome, long and powerful. The Colonel, by Cossack, out of Edith, by Emigrant. Cossack, by Sir Hercujea, out of Flora M'lvor, by Oap-.a-pie; grand-dam Cornelia, by Grasshopper, out of Hebe, by Hector, both imported. Sir Hercules was sire of Coronation, Faugh-a-ballagh, Irish Birdoatcher, Warlock, Daniel Olßourke, Knight of St. George, and Songstress—all Derby and St. Leger winners in Kngland. His grandson was sire of Stockwell, and grandsire of Blair Athol, Colleen, St. Albans, The Marquis, and Whalebone— embracing the representative of the purest and most successful racing strain of the present day. Bedouin's dam, Gunsara, is a dark brown, with black points, imported direct from Arabia, by Mr, A. Pjlans, having been selected from the purest of the racing stock in the country. Gunsara is uarrrkably handsome and powerful, 16 hac 'li 'n'gh, up to almost any weight, and has won many events of 3 and 4 mile distances. TERMS, £3 3s. Goldfinder was bred by William Webb, Esq., of Kiccarton, near Chris tchurch; is by the imported horse Quicksilver, out of Lady Margaret, by Wellington (imported) j granddam Fanny, by Sir Hercules—Sir Hercules bemg the progenitor of the New Zealand Turf, and long proclainiad and proved to be the best blood sire in the Australian Colonies. Quicksilver was imported from England by J. W. Ladbrook, Esq., to Canterbury in 1864. He was bred by John Coker, Esq., Lynn, Norfolk, by PrickwilJovv. His dam, a Phenomenon mare, the property of John Bond, Esq., Old Prickwillow, was the champion of all roadsters, GOLDFINDER ima taken several first prizes as tho henfc Hackney stallion at some of the principal shows as a \rtight-carrier and roadstv-r; his ei|iial is not in the Province. He is one of the best stock getters that ever travelled. His stock, like himself, show unmistakable signs of being excellent trotters. NAPQLEON was foaled the first day of November, 1875, and is out of the celebrated Brood Mare Jess, imported from Tasmania, and selected by the late John Nimmo, Esq., West Taieri. Jess is the grand dam of the famous sire Sir William Wallace. NAPOLEON'S sire is that grand old horse Emperor, the property of Mrs. Nimmo, Taieri, that has got more prize-takers than any other horse in New 'Zealand. Pedigree : HEATHER JOCK, was bred in Victoria by Thos. Watson, ii'sq. His sire was tiie celebrated imported horse Blackleg (71 Scottish Clydesdale Stud Book), who won the Highland and Agricultural Society's Gold Medal "in 1859, and the Champion Prize at the Grand National Society's Show in Victoria. Blackleg won altogether 54 first and 2 Second Prizes. Princess Maude, the best mare that ever left Scotlaud, was half-sister to Blackleg. Heather Jock's dam was Lily Cromwell, the winner of 13 First Prizes at Melbourne, Kyneton, Melton, Bacchus Marsh, Castleniaine, Gisborne, and Caris brook. She was got by Old Cromwell (imp.)
