YOUNG JACK'S THE LAD was foaled the sth November, 1575. He is a dark bay, stands 17 hands high, with plenty of bone and mu3ole. He has a good temper, is a willing and able worker, and haa proved himself a sure foal-getter in Victoria. He took second prize as a yearling at the Smeatou Agricultural Society's Show, iu IS76'. The same year he took the second prize at the Kyn-.ton Agricultural Show, aud first prize as a yearling, and also Progeny Stakes of Jack's the Lad—a silver cup valued £7 10s, taking it two years in succession at the Glenlyon,':Franklyn, aDd Daylesford Aericultural Show, in March, 1577. As a 2-year-cld, he took first prize at the Bendigo Agricultural Show, 1877 ; also the some year, he took first-class certificate of merit at the National Agricultural Show of Victoria, at Melbourue, and the same year second prize at the Smeatou Agricultural Show, _ and second prize as a 2-year-old at the Gleniyon, Frankly a, and Dalesford Agricultural Show, IS7S. ile was bred by Joseph Rosendale, E:q., Glenlyon Sire, Jack's the Lad (imported), bred by Mr. Allan, of the Inches, near Eaglesham, by Mr. Moore's grand horse Lofty, which horse took a great many lirst prizes at Glasgow, Inverness, and other places, out of Allan's graud ntaro Flower, which too;c prizes all over Scotland. Jack's the Lad was imported in 1572, and obtained the lirst prize and lirst-ch\ss certificate of merit at Castleniaine ; .and since he has obtained seven first prizes aud four second, aleo the third prize at the Grand National Sno.v, Smeaton, in and the second prize at ihe Grand National Sh .w, Sandhurst, in 1876, and the champion prize for the_bast animal in the yard, at Smeatou, in 18/5. Dam, Bell, bred by Kobert Cowie, Esq., of Smeaton; aire Prince of \\ ales (imported), who gained five prizes in Scotland, including the Highiand Society a first prize at Midcaider.
