WAITAKI AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.

The annual meeting of this Club was held at the Royal Hotel on Saturday evening. Mr. J. J. Macdonald occupied the chair.

The usual preliminary business having been disposed of, the balance-sheet and the following report were read and adopted : The Committee, in submitting their annual, report, can congratulate the members of the Club on having, so far, been able to meet all liabilities. The total receipts for the past year have been LlO7 2s lid, and expenditure LlO7 13s lid, leaving a deficit of lis. An athletic meeting was held on November 9ih, but owing to the great difficulty experienced in obtaining a suitable ground, and the small number of competitors in the various events, it was not so great a success as could have been desired. I

Your Committee regret that they have been unable to find a suitable building for a 'gymnasium at a sufficiently low rental to come within the means of the Club, and fear it is quite impossible to do so. For these reasons your Committee consider it desirable to discontinue the Club for the present, more especially as it is probable that athletic sports will this year be held in connection with the Oamaru Cricket Club. In offering this suggestion, the Committee will be glad to learn the wishes of the members with regard to the disposal of the gymnasium plant belonging to the Club. This may be valued at about L 25. After general discussion on the subject, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Lintott,- seconded by Mr. Millington, " That, on account of the great difficulty experienced in obtaining a suitable ground

for the holding of athletic sports, and the impossibility of securing a shed for a gymnasium, the Club be forthwith wound up." On the motion of Mr. Grant, seconded by Mr. F. Fenwick, it was further resolved, " That the hurdles, jumping sticks, &0., the property of the Club, be handed over to the Oaruaru Cricket Club, and that a sub-committee consisting of Messrs. Walls, Ferens, and Lintott be appointed to apportion the balance of the gymnastic apparatus among the three public schools." The meeting terminated with the usual vote of thanks to the Chairman."
