WANTED INFORMATION.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE OAMARU MAIL. Sir,—We all know the folly of the " blind leading the blind," yet, if I am rightly informed, a worse folly can be witnessed at present in the Oamaru Grammar School. It appears that two of the teachers are absent from their duties—one from the effects of an accident and one because he is on a visit to another part of the Colony. I should like to ascertain if it is the case that in their absence the large, classes of boys and girls are entrusted to a mere stripling, whose powers of teaching and of discipline are so feeble and lax that the children are in danger of becoming school larrikins. I shall be pleased to hear that my informant is in error ; for if it is as reported, it would be a mockery to send children to school when teachers and scholars are alike youthful and foolish.—lam, &c., A Parent.
