The Maj'oral election resulted as follows : —Mr. Manchester, 90 : Mr. Hayes, 70 ; Mr. Price, 26 ; Mr. Freeman, 3. CHRISTCHUKCH. October 7. Edward Smart, for a criminal offence on a Maori girl, has been found guilty with a recommendation to mercy. He was sentenced to eight years' penal servitude.
