OAMARU CRICKET CLUB.
The annual meeting of members of this Club was held on Saturday evening :tfc the Royal Hotel. Mr. Sumpter, the President, occupied the chair, and there were about twenty members present. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed., the following report from the Committee was read and adopted : The Committee, in presenting their report for last year have the pleasure to state that notwithstanding the large expenditu.ro incurred in the purchase of materir.l and improvement of tin: ground* the Club may, under the circumstances, be considered to be in a favorable financial position. Although the Club lost several matches, your Committee think they may be tolerably ■well pleased at the result of the matches as a -whole, when the little opportunity afforded for practice, owing to the ground being unfit to play on at the beginning of the season, is taken into consideration. The Committee regret that through the want of funds they have not been able to do as much as they could have wished towards the improvement of the ground ; yet it is confidently expected, when the incoming season's subscription have been received, there will be sufficient means both to liquidate the outstanding accounts and improve the ground. The Committee desire to express a hope that, as there is now a good sward and every opportunity for practice, the Club will acquire considerable strength, and that the incoming season will prove a successful one. The balance-sheet was also read and adopted. The total amount of receipts for the season 1878-9 was L 66 12s, and the amount disbursed during the season totalled LSB 12s, ljaving a balance of L 8 i
to the credit of the Club in the bank. A Statement of the liabilities of the Club was prepared by the Treasurer, and read at the meeting, showing the debts due by the Club to be between L3O and L4O. On the motion of Mr. Macdonald, it was decided that Dr. de Lautour and Messrs. Rice and Macdonald be appointed a Fnance Committee to investigate the outstanding accounts and report thereon to the General Committee.
