Sept. 10. The tapsail schooner Laarel, bound from Pictoa to Lyttelton, sprung a leak off Kaifcoura on Monday, and became waterlogged. The crew were picked up by the barqae Mary Bell, bound from Lyttelton to Newcastle. They were afterward# transferred to the steamer Lyttelton, and arrived last night. A steamer has gon* to search for the ill-fated vessel. She w owned by Mr. Hornby, of Pictoa. PoRT CIiAt.MKBS. Sept. 10. Arrived—Rotoru.v from, the Bluff; Waaganai, from Lyttelton. A strong south-wust gale is blowing. The repairs to the ship Benares are completed. She will be surveyed to-day, and undocfcsd at the end of the week.
