He denounced the Liberals for their sympathy with the Irish agitators. Lord Hartingdon delares that a complete revision of the farmer's leases is the only remedy for the agricultural depression. At the wool sales to-day GBO3 bales were sold. Competition continues extremely vigorous. The present cash quotations for Australian copper are from LG3 to L 64. Colonial debentures are dull. It is probable that the floating of the New South Wales loan will be postponed for a short time. The money market is easy. The Greek currant crop is good. Newcurrants are quoted at from 2Ss to 30s, A quiet tone prevails in the tallow market. Mutton : inferior, 31s Gd to 32s ; medium, 32s Cd to 33s 6d ; superior, 34s 6d to 35s 9d. Eeef : inferior, 30s 6d to 31s ; medium, 31s Gd; superior, 32s Gd. The corn market is quiet and easy. The present quotations for wheat are from 49s Gd to 50s. September 6. At the wool sales 9831 bales were sold to-day. Prices remain without noticeable alteration. The prospectus of the New Plymouth (New Zealand) harbor works loan of L 200,000 lias been issed. The interest is fixed at six per cent., and the minimum price is L 95. The Swedish expedition has discovered a north-east passage.
