(FROM OUI4 OWN CORRESPONDENTS.) DUNEDIN. September 1. Caversham appears to be a most attractive Otago constituency, seven candidates being nominated to-day, as follow :—Messrs. M'ludoe, Carrick, William Wilson (of Portobello), Nicholas Maloney, D. F. Main, William Barron, and Cutten. The show of hands was in favor of W. Barron (Greyite). The information against the tramway workmen for altering curve on Sunday was dismissed, Mr. 'NN att holding that the work was necessary, and that the Act of Charles was unsuitable to the circumstances of the Colony. The Good Templar vote will be given to Messrs. Oliver and Dick, and the Catholic block vote to Messrs. Macassey and Bracken. William Chisholm, an engine driver, dropped down dead at Guthrie and Larnach's establishment this morning. He had just gone on to work, having been engaged on Friday. Excitement was the cause of his death. He leaves a wife and large family. CHIIISTCHURCH. September 1. The nomination of members to represent Christchurch took place to-day. The show of hands resulted as follows : Grey, 90 ; Stevens, 90 ; Richardson, 90 ; Andrews, 85 ; Treadwell, 30. A poll was demanded by Andrews.
