L. and M.A. Company (Limited), reports for the week ending August 20, as follows :< —• Fat Cattle.—The large supply of 26C came forward, about half being good to prime: the balance medium to- inferior. The number to hand being in excess o£ the requirements of the trade, a slight reduction on last week's rates took ptace. We »o!d 25 head from Seadown. on account of Mr. S. Garforth,. at from L& 17s b'd to Ll.l 10s per head. We quote prime beef at fully 30s per 1001b-; medium do- at 25s to 27s 6d. Fat Calves.—Six yarded and sold at about lata quotations. Fat Sheep.—2s4t penned, consisting of merinos and cross-breds, a considerable number of each description being in store condition. Best cross-breds fetched from lis 6d to 14a (5d ; inferior and medium do, 6s 9d to 10s 6d ; best merinos, 7s 9d ;_small ewes in medium condition, 5s 3d to 5a 9d. •We sold £075 on account of Messrs. J. F. Kitchiug, W. Miller, S. Brttgh, and 11. Elston. We qu> 'te mutton at 2|d per lb. Sheepskins.—We catalogued about 1500 for our Monday's sale. There was a good attendance of buyers, and spirited competition. Butchers' cross-breds fetched from 2s 9d to 3tt 6d ; do merinos, 2s fid to 3a 7d ; full-woolled merinos, 4s 4d: pelts and station skins, tOit to la JOd each. Hides.—Fair demand, and market firm at 2sd per lb for salted, and 15s to 16a 6d for green. Tallow.—No sates to report. Grain-—'The news from Home and the other colonies continues unsatisfactory, and there is no disposition on the part of buyers to speculate in large parcels. Really good milling wheat is difficult to procure. Last week's quotations are scarcely main tained. Oats i No improvement in prices. Good feed are saleable at 2s ; milling at 2a 21 to 2s 3d. Barley : No> inquiries at present. Samples of good malting are scarce, and could be placed at from 5s to 5s Sd for first class.
