[from our own correspondent.] London, August 18. Tallow is firm at advancing rates. The present quotations for tin are from LCB to L7O. Australian wheat ex ship (Rennie, Wave, and Harbinger) is selling at 49s per 4Solbs. For wool, prices have slightly given way. August 20. . The miners at Newcastle are docile, and the difficulty is considered to be terminating. The military and police have returned to Sydney. Martingale has greatly receded in the betting on the Metropolitan. Nellie is firm as the first favorite for the Derby. Trickett is the favorite by seven to four against Laycock, and is in splendid form.
