There have been numerous incendiary fires in Spain, one of which completely destroyed 40 houses, killing 34 persons. London, August 14. A conference of delegates from 200,000 miners, at Manchester, resolved to encourage emigration to the Dominion of Canada. The Government of Canada offers to defray the expenses of the delegates of English farmers to Canada, with the view of emigration. News from the Cape to the 20th July has been received. The re-advance of two British columns was ordered to take place on the 3rd August, to rendezvous at Magdebonium on the 6th inst. St. Petersbukgh, August 14. Three influential lawyers were brought up at St. Petersburgh, charged with disaffection. The number of persons is daily increasing. Several police officers have been punished for neglect of duty. (SPECIAL TO MELBOURNE AGE.) London, August 15. Latest news from the Cape reports that Captain Carey has been ordered Home. The Pope is seriously ill with overanxiety and sleeplessness. Count Taaff succeeds Count Andrassy aB Premier of Austria.
