Wellington, August 13. Mr. George Hunter, one of the present members, lias announced his intention to seek re-election. Mr. Brandon announces his intention to seen re-election for Wellington country districts. The electioneering campaign was commenced la3t night by Dr. Newman, one of the candidates for the City of Wellington. About 500 persons were present, and the candidate was well received. He expressed himself in favor of Liberal principles, but thought it was time the present Government were out of office. Be would support manhood suffrage, but thought it would be advisable to defer it for a time. He thought there were other matters of greater importance to be dealt with than that of triennial Parliaments, though he was averse to such measures. At the conclusion of the meeting, the candidate received a vote of thanks. August 14. The Liberal Association have selected Messrs. William Hutchison (the >?ayor) and George Fisher (H.-tna ml reporter) as their candidates for the Welli ngi on. and have appointed a depu.'aiion to wait ou Sir George Grey to rsk him to address the electors on iheir lielialt". Pr::cniir ; Ar.gimh in. Sir. Barron, and probably Mr. Bragg, will stand for Gaversbam. Mr. Driver will stand again for Roslyn. Mr. James Greeu will come out for Port Chalmers. C.bejsi:cb.oech, August. 13. The Conservatives to-day made overtures to the Liberal Association to run Sir George Grey with Messrs. Stevens and Richardson, withdrawing Mr. Moorhouse. The offer was not accepted, and it is understood that at least one other Liberal will be brought forward. August 13. Mr. J. S. Macfarlane. in his address to the electors of Waitemaia, issues a manifesto a column and a half long against the Government. Mr. Goldie declines to seek re-election for City West. Dr. Wallis is out on the Liberal ticket. Messrs. It. Graham aud W. Buchanan are also mentioned. A requisition is being got up at Cambridge inviting Mr. F. J- Moss to contesc the Waikaio seat in the Grey interest. Capiaiu Fraser announces himself as a candidate for the Thames, in the event of Sir G. Grey standing for Christchurcli. Mr. F. Back la net met the Franklyn electors at Howick to-night. He said he would give a qualified support to the Ministry, but would give no pledges. He i would vote with the majority of the Auckland members. He received a vote thanks. j Patea, August 13. The candidates for the Egtnont electorate are Sherwood, Atkinson, and Maci/uire. Sherwood has declared for I the Liberal party, but is not favorable to Sir G. Grey as a leader. Macguire is not pronounced, and is expected to retire. Atkinson addressed a large meeting at Carlyle last night, where a vote of confidence was proposed and negatived.
