ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE OAMARU MAIL. Sir, —I observe with pleasure an advertisement in the Matt, touching on the

coming general election, and expressing sentiments of a nature calculated to serve the interests of the State by the p ro . motion of Liberalism. I agree with the tenor of the advertiser's notice, and as an elector, would call upon the friends of progress to take their stand in favor of those men who have hitherto shown themselves to be staunch in their profession, and earnest in their support of a progressive policy. Let the electors of Waitaki vote for our tried men, who, true to their colors, have stood firm to the interests of the people of North Otago, as well as to those of the whole Colonj\ Let the electors remember that the matters which are calculated to do the greatest general good are those which have received the greatest amount of benefit at the hands of our Liberal members. Immigration, land settlement, railway extension, the utilisation of foreign loans, and the fostering of maritime progression by the formation of harbors to open up large agricultural districts—such as oar own—are a few of the deep matters of colonial interest which are more or less intimately connected with the present Liberal policy. In voting for Messrs. Hislop and Shrimski we will work in the interests of progression, liberty, and the Commonwealth.—l aui, &c., Waitaki Elector.
