♦ DIRECT AUSTRALIA* NEWS. (REUTEIVSTELEORAM, PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Adelaide, August G. The Treasurer has introduced his financial statement. The revenue for the last financial year was L 1,601,000, and the expenditure L 1,854,000. The chief deficiency is in Customs. The revenue for the current year is estimated atL1,555,000, and the expenditure at L 2,000,000. The estimated deficit (L 254,000), exclusive of the supplementary estimates, is proposed to be covered by new taxes of 6d in the £ on income derived from interest, 3d in j;he £ on capital invested in business, and 3d in the £ on incomes exceeding L3OO per annum. Melbourne, August 6. The Budget discussion continues. A statement in the Age newspaper this morning denies that it is Sir John O'Shannassy's intention to move a vote of no confidence.
