NOMINATIONS OF COUNCILLORS.

The nominations in conneotion with the annual election of members of the Municipal Council wer© made public at noon to-day at the Municipal Chambers. There was a very good attendance of ratepayers, and some amount of interestwas displayed in the proceedings. His Worship the Mayor acted as Returning Officer. The Town Clerk having read the advertisement giving notice of the election, and the clause of the Ordinance under which it was held, the following nominations were read : Jetty Ward.—Mr. Francis Henry Townsend, proposed by Mr. Henry Watson, and seconded by Mr. Julias Earl Harding. High Waed.—Mi\ Alfred Sclanders Ott-erson, proposed by Mr. John J. Spence, and seconded by Mr. Thomas J. Bunting; Mr. Ritchie Young, proposed by Mr. Thomas Dunn, and seconded by Mr. James King.

Thames Ward.—Dr. Albert Isaac Garland, proposed by Mr. James Familton, and seconded by Mr. John Hardy. Severn Wakb. • —Mr. William Henry Sherwo.od Roberts, proposed by Mr. Joseph Booth, and seconded by Mr. John Cagney ; Mr. William Jones Smith, proposed by Mr. Francis J. Chase, and seconded by Mr. John M'Dowcll. The Returning Officer then declared Mr. Townsend elected for Jetty Ward ; Dr. Garland, for Thames Ward ; and Messrs. Roberts and Smith, for Severn Ward. He also announced that the poll for the election of a Councillor for High Ward would, be taken oil Friday, Ist August. For the offices of Auditors, Mr. John Church was proposed by Mr. John J. Spence and seconded by Mr. George Melville Bruce; and Mr. John Locke was proposed by Mr. Frank Dunlop and seconded by Mr. Robert Gtmion. Both gentlemen were declared duty elected. Dr. Garland and Mr. Smith each acknowledged the honor done them by being elected. Messrs. Otterson and Young also briefly addressed the ratepayers. The other gentlemen elected were not present.

A vote of thanks having been accorded to ilie Returning Officer, on the motion of Dr. Garland seconded by Mr. Smith, the proceedings terminated.
