THE LABOR MARKET. Mr. H. Mackintosh reports for the week ending .fane '-Ist, a» follows During the past week the demand for labor of all descriptions has been fairly maintained, country servants being very much wanted. The commencement of the Livingstone railway has absorbed a great number of our unemployed, and we hope to see other works follow loon, «o that our winter will not be so gloomy as was anticipated. Ploughmen and general servants are passing off freely. Wages unaltered.

Sharps, L 6 10s ; bran, 10*1; Oats, low ; Tartarian oats, 2s 6d to 2a I (Hi ; milling, 3» to 3s 3d. Potatoes, 85s to 90s ; Maize, 4s 9d. Hams and bacon, 84d. DtTNEDIN. June 20. Wheat, 4a to 4s 6d ; fowls' wheat, 3s to 3a 3d ; oats, 2a Id to 2s 3d ; barley, 5s to 5s 6d ; feed, 3s to 3s Sd ; potatoes, L 5 to L 5 7s fid; hay (new), L 4; chaff. L4to L 4 10s; straw, L2 ss; bran, L 4 ss; Hour, large sacks, :L10; imall bags, LlO 10a; oatmeal, Ll4; pearl barley, 1.26; onion#, 14s; cheese, id to 8d; bacon, 2d. Fat cattle, 30s for prime; 27s 6d for medium per 100 lba. Fat sheep are slightly under 2d per lb. INVERCARGILL. June 20. Business 'is improving. Quantities of grain continue to come forward. Best samples of wheat, 3s 6d to 3a 9d ; inferior. 3s 3d; feed, 2a 4d to 2a fid. Oats, best milling, 2s to 2s 3d; feed, Is lOd to Is lid. Barley scarce, 5s to 5s 6d. AUCKLAND. June 20. Trade has been dull this week, but prices are satisfactory. The grain market is being supplied from the south. Sales of oats are reported at 2s Id to 2s lid. A parcel of 1100 sacks of good to arrive at latter figure. Maize keeps the price given last week. Fijian cargoes (2500 sacks} are not yet to hand. 1000 sacks are expected from California, and a further consignment by next steamer from Sydney, so that 400© sacks are afloat for this market. Buyers are operating with caution. Small tines are changing hands at 4s 4M to 4s 6<L Potatoes are easier. Several tots are quoted at I.R to Lli sm.
