o (from otjr own correspondent. ) DUNEDiN. June 19. The residence of Mr. W. C. Norman, goods traffic manager of the railways, at Green Island, was totally destroyed by fire at 4 o'clock this morning, Not an article saved, the inmates only escaping in their night-clothes. The building was insured only last week in the Australian Alliance for LSOO, and furniture in the South British for 1415, and in the Colonial for L3OO.
The Star states that thousands of marbles have been purchased here and sent to the native districts in the North.
On dit that Cummock, acting librarian of the Athenseum, is missing. There are 272 nominations of immigrants this month, which is the largest number yet received. The police have evidence that tends to prove that the Athenreum was wilfully fired by Cummock. Mr. Stout has promised a deputation to give 4 fijjal answer on Monday re resigning-
