June 16. A tire occurred at Mr. M'Carthy s house last night, and destroyed the building and its contents. It was caused by a candle being left on a dressing table at tiie window. It could easily have been put out %vhen discovered if water had been avaiiable.
John Moon, convicted of rape at the last session of the S'lnrcme Court, has received his second flogging of 25 lashes. He stitiered sever-.-lv.
Mary Edwards, with a baby in her arms, and whose husband deserted her. pleaded guilty at the Police Court to-day to wholesale robberies of drapery. She was remanded to enable the police to make enquiries.
