June 3. Elizabeth Whittel has been committed for trial for stealing a quantily of cloth.

June 3. Lewis has been committed for trial for arson.
A meeting of tlie provisional directors of the Christchurch and A karoa Junction Railway Company will be held on Saturday. The Hon. J. Macandrew proposed to open up land near Waipara, where the unemployed were going to work, for purchase on the deferred payment system, but there is no unalienated land there.
