The Government apparently do not appear satisfied with the previous enquiry into the cause of the wreck of the steamer Taupo. VV» learn by telegram that a Royal Commission haa been appointed, consisting of Commander Hewitt, Rose, N.Z.S. Co., and Captain Cross, of Nelson, to make a thorough investigation into> the circumstances under which the Taupo was wrecked off Tauranga. They leave by the V* anaka. All the allegations which have been made relative to neglect on the part of the Harbormaster at Tauranga anct the Marine Department at Wellington, in regard to ■hitting and non-replacement o£ one of the Tauranga channel buoys will be carefully sifted. A Government surveyor is now engaged in making an exact plan of the locality, showing the position of the steamer, buoys, &c., so that the commissioners may have all the particulars before them. A telegram from. Timaeu informs ua that during the four weeks ended yesterday, four English vessels were despatched direct to London, and thirty-fivH others for various ports. During the same period 2t8,3t)0 bushels oE grain, KOOO bales of wool, £077 sacks of tfour, MR casks of tallow, 210 sacks of malt, and quantities of smaller items oi produce were exported from here by sea.
